A couple of test miniatures...

Ravensrodd is a tabletop skirmish miniatures game; and that means it needs miniatures. I've chosen 1/56th as the scale... so a typical figure is 31 or 32mm to the top of the head. Most '28mm' figures are this size. Recently, some manufacturers have been going as large as 35mm, which is almost 1/48th scale; but I don't want to go that big, as most of the available terrain / scenery models would then be too small.

So, having decided on the scale, I thought I'd better have a go at a couple of test models. I made a female mercenary, a couple of weapon sprues, and a familiar spirit. They were all sculpted using Kneadatite Yellow/Blue epoxy putty (Green Stuff) over .81mm brass wire armatures. I know digital sculpting is the popular method these days, and I accept it has advantages in some areas, but I like working with putty. It also simplifies the production process, making it cheaper and faster to get a miniature to market.

Before we launch the game, we'll need around 50 or so miniatures; so there's still a very long way to go; but at least we've made a start...
